CPE Framework

Registered Ayurvedic practitioners maintain safe, ethical and clinically competent practice by completing Continuing Professional Education (CPE). Meeting the CPE requirement is compulsory to renew APAS membership. The framework is aligned to Singapore MOH regulatory expectations, the Ministry of Ayush (India) and the WHO Benchmark for Training in Ayurveda.

Compulsory requirements

  • 50 CPE points over a 2-year qualifying period.
  • At least 30 points (60%) must come from attending training and accredited courses on Ayurvedic practice (Category 1).
  • No more than 50% of the cycle total may come from any single category.
  • Self-directed learning (Category 3A) is capped at 30% — 15 points.
  • Excess credits cannot be carried forward to the next cycle.

Event categories

Category 1Courses, conferences & clinical training

At least 30 points (60%) of your cycle must come from this category.

1A
Local pre-approved events — short-term structured training, teaching sessions and case-study discussions organised by APAS.
1B
Other local pre-approved events — conferences, seminars and workshops.
1C
Overseas events, or events run by other accredited medical / para-medical / healthcare bodies; short-term training; post-graduate study in Ayurveda.
1D
Local clinical mentorship programmes with an appropriate clinical training base.
Category 2Publications & editorial work

Papers, posters, books, textbooks and journal reviews.

2A
Presentation or publication of papers/posters, editorial work, and authorship of Ayurveda professional books or reference works.
Category 3Self-directed learning

Capped at 30% of the cycle — a maximum of 15 CPE points.

3A
Reading of Ayurvedic / medical books and recognised journals, and self-study from audio-visual or online material (without assessment).
3B
Online education with assessment.

Each activity is awarded points by duration and role (participant vs. speaker/trainer). Full point weightings are published in Table A of the framework and shown when you log an activity.

Submitting CPE claims

  • Categories 1A, 1B & 1D: the accredited CPE event provider submits attendance on your behalf within one month of the event.
  • Categories 1C, 2A, 3A & 3B: submit your own online CPE claim, with supporting documents (event programme, certificate of attendance/completion, paper, or reflection summary).
  • All claims need supporting evidence. You are notified by email once a claim is approved.

Documentation

Keep certificates, logbooks, attendance records and self-study summaries for a minimum of 3 years. APAS may audit up to 10% of members each year.

Practice interruption

If you stop practising for 3 years or more, an additional 10 CPE credits are required (any category except self-study).
