I started taking black and white pictures in the late 60s and early 70s of my young children, using a cheap, China-made Shanghai – 4 twin lens camera. I learned to process the films and develop prints in real darkrooms. It was tedious but fun.

Being busy with work and voluntary community commitments, I stopped taking pictures for many years. When I started taking photos again, photography has gone digital. Compared to working in a real darkroom, using software to edit photos on a PC is a real bliss.

I grew up in kampongs, so I have a special affinity with nature. All kinks of flora and fauna appeal to me. Now in 2022,  I am 85 years old. I take walks in nature parks as a form of exercise 3-5 times a week, carrying a simple bridge camera with me and happily shooting away at birds, butterflies, dragonflies and more.

Besides enjoying photography, I believe it helps to keep dementia away at arm’s length. killing two birds with one stone, so to speak.
